Mabel's Labels

I first read about Mabel's labels on the Vegan Lunch Box and got very excited about the mention of allergy alert stickers. A couple of emails later and some fairly painless internet purchasing, et voilà!

They are stickers that you can slap on lunchboxes, drink containers, etc. And if you are very geeky like me and own a laminator, you can laminate the labels onto paper, hole punch a hole and thread a ribbon through. This makes a tag for bags or zippers or...whatever you want I suppose. (The geeky laminated version is shown in the picture).

Two of my little piglets are now all labelled up and that is one less thing to worry about.

If you know someone who could use these, spread the word and make them and Mabel happy!

excellent, we do label with 'nuts, gluton, lactose, egg' but these are a really simple 'traffic light'. My staff memeber is becoming very excilted about your recipes

What a marvellous idea.

I wonder if I can get one that says 'I am on a diet. Do not wave nice food in my direction?'

Great idea, I'll help spread the word!

I have often thought about a 'wake me up at Darlington' sign to be worn around my neck when coming home on the big blue train PITK.

Lady M, it is always good to be geeky i find!

Cheers Brom, maybe you should get a label that says 'do not let me drink' for your nights out in Brussels?!

Muddyboots, do you mean you MAKE labels, or you label the food in your cafe? I'm glad your staff member is excited, will look forward to feedback!

M&M, I think you should give it a try, you might have to be more specific though, 'no chocolate, nothing deep-fried, absolutely no alcohol and no saturated fats'...

Thank-you Suffolkmum and welcome!

Arthur, what a great idea, would it be a front and back sandwich board affair in case you turned over in your sleep?

PITK, your dear children must have something of the wartime evacuee about them, their forlorn faces gazing from the carriage window, clutching their little lunchbox, their allergy labels blowing in the wind...sob

Dear Rilly, you are right as ever, my children are the victims of a terrible scourge, I can only hope that we will see a cure in their lifetime. Listen (chuff chuff chuff)...steam is rising, I must leave you dearest rilly, farewell...(chuff chuff chuff, woo-woo, Pig disappears behind a cloud of engine steam, Rilly is left waving her lace-embroidered hanky, a solitary tear runs down her flawless cheek)

Pig - with the allergy labels and your laminated 'manners cards' you should be called 'The Laminator'. Have you thought about the possibility of laminating the kiddies. No more stressful bathtimes - just wipe them down with a damp cloth!

That's a brilliant label 'hack'!

I'm a direct sales agent with Mabel's and I'm going to share the great idea with them! Thanks for the great plug!

Marvellous idea PITK! Plus I love M&M's plea for a diet thingy. How about those childrens' false tattoos? (How do u spell?) You could have anything plonked on your forehead - say - "I hate all men with --- beards/wives/debts/ serious commitment probs/relatives of Saddam H/rugs on their heads/ ohmygodneedigoon?

Sorry. Hmm..

DM,have given your idea some careful thought and drawn up a few preliminary diagrams...but you know I don't think it's going to work. Just can't see a way to make the rollers in the laminator flexible enough to mould to the contours of the children. Also, they may get burnt. Although I suppose I could cold-laminate them...

Lee, hello and welcome. I am always happy to plug people who make my life easier! When Mabel's labels has adopted my quite brilliant idea, do make sure i get a slice of the millions. I'm available for photo shoots on a Wednesday, between 12 and 2 would suit me best.

Lizzie, I'm quite taken by your idea...would it have to be tatttoooos (sp?) or could you use a hot branding iron?

Brom, I'm kidding, we could use a cool branding iron, don't worry
